Vatican Shares Final Moments of Pope Francis Before His Passing
The Vatican has officially released details about the final moments of Pope Francis, who passed away on Monday morning at the age of 88.
After spending five weeks in the hospital, Pope Francis had recently returned to the Vatican. According to international news agencies, he expressed gratitude to his personal nurse in his final moments, especially for encouraging him to appear publicly at St. Peter’s Square during Easter.

As reported by Vatican News, Pope Francis thanked his nurse Massimiliano Strappetti, saying:
“Thank you for taking me back to the Square.”
These words were among the last he spoke.
On Easter Sunday, the Pope appeared before thousands of worshippers. He waved to the crowd, blessed children, and greeted people from the Popemobile in St. Peter’s Square.
Earlier, he had asked his nurse:
“Do you think I can do it?”
The nurse encouraged him, and the Pope carried out the appearance with quiet strength.

On Monday around 5:30 AM, the Pope’s health began to worsen. About an hour later, he waved goodbye to his nurse from his bed and slipped into a coma. At 7:35 AM, the Vatican confirmed his passing.
